Homeless When God Showed Up!

I am an online instructor of Divinity courses for two wonderful Christian Universities. I have the privilege to instruct about 100 students every eight weeks which is the design for most online courses. During the first week the students introduce themselves to each other, share where they are from, a little about their families, work, hobbies, and ministries.

One of my courses during this term is the Principles of Hermeneutics and Theological Thinking. As I was reading through the introductions my eyes gazed on one that impacted me greatly. In fact, the entire class of some 28 students were impacted and spiritually moved.  His name was Tom, and I will not include his last name, however, I asked him if I could have permission to use his testimony on social media and he responded with a yes, use it as you see fit. I have included his introduction below.

“I am Tom …... I am a 71-year-old retiree. I am a junior this year, majoring in Biblical and Theological Studies. In June 2020, God saw fit to render me homeless to get me in a position to accept His calling. Sometimes God puts us flat on our backs so that the only way to look is up. I was fortunate to be accepted into a program in a homeless shelter in Indianapolis, IN. Immediately upon sitting down in my Case Managers' office, the Lord worked a supernatural operation in me, instantly filling me with His justifying faith and saving grace. My goals are to earn my bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. degrees--only if God wills it and the money keeps flowing. I want to become an Old Testament scholar, to teach people about God's plan to reconcile humanity back to Himself. I am excited about digging into Principles of Hermeneutics and Theological Thinking and getting to know all of you better!

My response to you, my readers is that regardless of your situation in life God will show up in your life also. He created us and pursues us as we journey life.
